Nutritional Supplements

What does nutrition have to do with chiropractic care? The goal of chiropractic care is to help patients achieve total health and balance with their body, and as part of that goal we provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices. Nutritional counseling by Dr. Ben Lechene can assist a patient on their return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Trigger Point/Muscle Massage

Muscles move the joints that are treated by chiropractic adjustments. Therefore, it is essential that there is treatment to the muscles. By utilizing trigger point therapy, active release technique, or myofascial release, we ensure the muscle(s) get the proper treatment. Our chiropractic office provides specific muscular therapy that is complimentary to their chiropractic care. Each therapy plan is tailored to meet the patient's unique pain condition or injury. These therapies have been known to relieve muscle pain and spasms, increase a patient's range of motion, while also aiding in a patient's recovery.

Massage is often recommended along with chiropractic treatment, either before or after and adjustment. This combination of treatments often produces more effective results, and faster healing in the patient.

Massage can be performed as preparation for chiropractic adjustment because it relieves the muscle tension that may be pulling joints out of alignment and make it easier to move back into place. Massage is also relaxing, and a relaxed body is easier for the chiropractor to work with. In addition, as a chiropractor corrects the structural problems that are causing or limiting your mobility, massage can compliment the healing process by stretching and relaxing muscles that have been aggravated by these structural problems, making it easier for you to stretch and exercise, and thus more quickly achieve a state of well being.

Types Of Massage Offered At Lechene Chiropractic

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is considered a relaxing massage as the therapist will use long, gliding strokes along the muscles as well as some kneading motions to further increase comfort, circulation and flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage

This type of massage is used for pain relief. Deeper muscles are reached with some help from certain movement from the client. This allows the muscles to stretch to a point that they hadn’t been able to reach prior to the massage.

Trigger Point Therapy

Muscle knots develop and create trigger points that cause pain and limit movement. The therapist will use deep, consistent pressure on the trigger point until the pain is alleviated.

Pre-natal Massage

The therapist uses gentle to firm gliding strokes along the shoulder blades, spine, low back and hips to ease the discomfort of lower and upper back pain associated with pregnancy.

Sports Massage

Athletes can experience a pre and post event massage experience with this modality. A pre-event massage will stimulate the blood flow and warm up the muscle. A post-event massage will help to stretch the muscles back to a point of comfort.

Geriatric Massage

As we age, we atrophy and lose muscle mass. In turn, our soft tissue will become less flexible with decreased circulation. This specific technique is used to restore muscle tone and circulation. This allows for greater range of motion, balance, and energy.

Special Populations Massage

This type of massage is used for clients that have a special device or certain conditions that need to be monitored. For example, a cancer patient that has a port or a diabetic relying on an insulin pump. Before you schedule a massage and any of these conditions apply to you, please consult your doctor as to the type of massage you would like to have and if you are able to receive that therapy.
